Treating the Root Cause: What 10 Days of Whole-Person Care Actually Does

Have you ever caught yourself saying one of these?

"I’ll never feel any better."

“I’ve tried everything—nothing works."

"What if this program doesn’t work for me?”

"This is just who I am now."

“I feel so hopeless.”

“I know these benzos aren’t good for me, but I will never be able to tolerate getting off of them.”

If so, you are not alone. These are some of the most common thoughts I hear from people considering our Depression and Anxiety Recovery Program. They feel true. But more often than not, they are the very barriers keeping people from the relief they are searching for.

When your mental health is on the line, the stakes are high, and it is easy to talk yourself out of change and stay where it feels safe, even when "safe" is quietly miserable. So let me ask a different question. Instead of "What if it doesn't work?" what if you asked, "What if it does work, and changes everything?"

In this article, I want to show you exactly what happened during our most recent residential session of the Nedley Depression and Anxiety Recovery Program (NDARP). No slogans. No promises. Just the clinical scores, before and after, for an entire group of people who decided to take action.

What Is the 10-Day Program?

The Nedley Depression and Anxiety Recovery Program (NDARP) is an immersive, 10-day residential program built to address the root causes of depression and anxiety, not just the symptoms. It brings medical, psychological, and lifestyle care together, treating the mind, body, and spirit as one connected whole.

How does the program work?

From the first day, every participant receives individualized care. That begins with a comprehensive lab workup examining brain biochemistry, inflammation, neurotransmitter cofactors, and other key markers, so each person's plan is built around what their body and brain actually need.

Throughout the 10 days, participants work with a full team of physicians, therapists, and fitness coaches. They receive personalized guidance on physical exercise, light therapy, and nutrition. Lab results direct a tailored plan for rebalancing brain chemistry, often using targeted nutrients and natural supplements.

Through guided small-group sessions, one-on-one counseling, and daily physical activity, participants learn to reframe, and in many cases end, their relationship with depression and anxiety. By day 10, they do not simply feel better. They leave with the tools to keep those gains for the long term.

You may still be wondering: will it work for me? Let the data answer that.

The Impact of the Residential Program

In our May 2026 residential session, 21 participants completed the 10-day program. Many arrived in difficult shape. Several had lived with depression and anxiety for 20 years or more. A number came in already on antidepressant medication and still felt no relief. Others were also managing PTSD, ADHD, OCD, or panic disorder, and some were leaning on substances, from alcohol and nicotine to benzodiazepines and stimulants, simply to make it through the day.

Here is where they started, and where they finished.

DSM-V Depression Assessment

Participants began with an average depression score of 17.4, in the moderate-to-severe range. Ten days later, the average had fallen to 3.8, indicating no depression at all. Every participant achieved a clinical response, and 95 percent were no longer clinically depressed.

Just as striking, thoughts of suicide or of being "better off dead," which had been present close to half the time on average, were gone by the end of the program.

Beck Depression Inventory

The Beck Depression Inventory, which measures depressive thinking more than physical symptoms, told the same story. Scores fell from 25.2 to 5.9, and repetitive negative thinking returned to normal levels.

GAD-7 Anxiety Scores

For those struggling with anxiety, average GAD-7 scores dropped from 13.8, in the moderate range, to 3.1, indicating no clinical anxiety after the program.

Several participants had relied on benzodiazepines for years and were convinced they could never come off them. Not only did they complete the program free of those medications, their depression and anxiety scores improved right alongside everyone else's.

Beck Anxiety Inventory

On the Beck Anxiety Inventory, which captures the physical side of anxiety such as racing heart, shortness of breath, and chronic tension, scores fell from 26.7, in the severe range, to 6.0, which is no clinical anxiety at all. Every participant improved significantly.

Emotional Intelligence (EQ) Scores

The gains went well beyond symptom relief. Emotional intelligence rose into the top 20 percent in the nation, climbing from an average of 102 to 125. Every participant improved their EQ, one of the strongest predictors of future happiness, motivation, relationship satisfaction, and success.

Celebrating Transformations Every Step of the Way

My staff and I have watched these results unfold in person, again and again, and it is why we love this work. To see someone arrive carrying moderate-to-severe depression and anxiety and leave with peace, purpose, and genuine joy is nothing short of extraordinary. Many tell us they feel clearer and happier than they have in their entire lives, and they reach that point with no unwanted side effects.

I also want to be honest about where the credit belongs. The principles behind this recovery are not mine. They are God's. We simply help people live in harmony with the way He designed the body and mind to heal. He is the Ultimate Healer, and every changed score points back to Him.

At the same time, I want to be clear that there is no magic button here. These outcomes come from participants who are willing to do the work and embrace real change. Our team will walk with you every step of the way, but your commitment is what turns the data into your story.

If you are ready to take that step, I would love for you to join us. You deserve this opportunity, and I am confident this program can help you find the mental health and the happiness you have been searching for.
